This web page was created to help the Dalton community keep abreast of the Town’s efforts to research and plan for a new Safety Building, which would house the Dalton Police, Communications (Dispatch), and Emergency Management Departments.
The Town hired an architectural firm, Jacunski Humes Architects, with Federal funds (ARPA) to lead the process of designing a space with input from Town staff and Committee members. Brian Humes is the architect working for the Town. The architect’s preliminary study and assessments of the current space are available for download via the links provided on this page.
Public Safety Facility Advisory Committee Charge
(Approved by the Select Board June 24, 2024)
The Public Safety Facility Advisory Committee shall examine all issues regarding the proposal for a new Police Station, including the potential for a new building to house a fire station and the Emergency Management Director. Issues include, but may not be limited to, whether and where to lease, buy, or take property, or to use existing Town property, including whether to build a new building; and to issue a preliminary report and recommendation on these questions to the Select Board by December 30, 2025. If and when Town Meeting approves the proposal, and together with the Town Manager, the Committee will work with an Owner’s Project Manager to design and implement any renovation or new building.

Update July 18, 2025
The Public Safety Facility Committee will be holding community meetings for the public. These informational meetings will be held during the month of August at the following times and locations:
August 13, 2025, 6 pm, Dalton Senior Center
August 18, 2025, 1 pm, Dalton Senior Center
August 19, 2025, 6 pm, Dalton Library
August 30, 2025, 11 am, Dalton Senior Center
There will also be tours of the current Police Department during these dates and times:
August 12, 2025, 6 – 8 pm
August 19, 2025, 6 – 8 pm
August 23, 2023, 11 am – 1 pm
