Mandatory Ethics Training

Every Town Clerk in MA is required to send annually a Summary of the Conflict of Interest Law and Online Training Requirements to all employees, paid and unpaid (see *Note). The employees in turn must return a signed receipt to the Clerk within 10 days. Each employee must also take an online training program every two years; the test at the end generates a certificate proving that it was taken.

*Note: according to the Summary, “employee” for this purpose includes all elected and appointed Town Officers.

The (call this open meeting law) was revised effective July 2018, and this should be also be reviewed by all employees prior to returning the form.
