In June of 2009, the town approved the creation of the Dalton Redevelopment Authority (DRA), a special purpose economic development agency. Redevelopment Authorities have broad powers to undertake community renewal projects including but not limited to: The authority to accept Federal grants; and the authority to eliminate and redevelop substandard, decadent or blighted open areas. The DRA consists of five voting members, one of which is the Governor’s appointment.
