Recording Secretary

The Town of Dalton seeks a part-time Recording Secretary, to record meeting minutes for approximately 5-8 weekday meetings per month. These meetings start between 3:00PM-7:00PM, so it is important to have the availability during these times. This position performs responsible services, ensuring that accurate minutes of meetings are taken and approved. This position is paid $58.15 per set of minutes submitted.

Emergency Management Director

Performs administrative and supervisory work in planning for the safety of the citizens of the Town before, after, and during a natural or man-made emergency; coordinates, plans, organizes, and directs the Emergency Management programs for the Town such as public education and training.  Performs all other related work as required.

High School diploma required; Associates Degree desired, experience in utilizing ICS and NIMS; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Military or civil emergency response experience is helpful. Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) recommended but not required.

The Emergency Management Director mut be over 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and should be available to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) and knowledge of structure, functions, and interrelationships of state, federal and local governments. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of emergency management administration; thorough knowledge of the approved methods and procedures of modern emergency management techniques, equipment, and related practices.

This position is compensated with a monthly stipend between $750 – $1,000, determined upon experience and qualifications..

Emergency On-Call Operator

The Emergency On-Call Operator:

  1. Provides general winter maintenance for Town’s Highways, cemeteries, and parks. Plowing, shoveling, snow blowing etc.
  2. Must be able to operate a one ton dump truck. Class D license required and 2A Hoisting license preferred.
  3. A pre-employment physical is required.
  4. Must be able to perform small repairs and maintenance on equipment and buildings in Department and other miscellaneous jobs that are necessary to maintain the infrastructure of the Highway – Cemetery – Parks Department.

Hourly rate is $23.11.  This is a seasonal position without benefits.

Motor Equipment Operator

The Motor Equipment Operator performs a variety of skilled duties operating equipment involving the construction, repairing, cleaning, and maintaining of Town roads, drainage systems, and the maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Performs all other related work as required.

High School diploma or equivalent; five years’ experience in road construction and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Starting salary $25.15 per hour.  Recommended minimum qualifications include: Class D License. Must be able to demonstrate the skill to operate public works equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Requires knowledge of lawn mowers, weed whacking, and small hand tools.

Property Maintenance - Dalton Housing Authority
