Planning Board

The mission of the Dalton Planning Board is to ensure that growth and land use changes within Dalton occur in an orderly and planned manner. The Board maintains the Dalton Zoning Bylaws so that they reflect current conditions and promote the goals of the Dalton Master Plan. The Planning Board is also responsible for regulating the division of land in Dalton and is the Special Permit Granting Authority for land use issues. The Board provides citizens with information regarding zoning as well as subdivision regulations.

Membership

The Planning Board is composed of five Dalton residents elected by the general public. Current members are maintained by the Town Clerk’s office and available at https://www.mytowngovernment.org/01226.

Special Permit Petition

RE: Special Permit Petition: Large Scale Photovoltaic Installation

Petitioner: Warren Farms Solar, Inc.

Premises Affected: Bridle Road

The proposed Project is located on the closed and capped private landfill known as Warren Farms Landfill, located at Bridle Road in Dalton, Massachusetts (Assessors’ Map #106, Lot 55).

The Board will hear the proposal and a period will be open for public input. This input will be taken into consideration when considering conditions for the renewal. The zoom link will be posted at: mytowngovernment.org/01226

Please inform the Planning Board in writing, of any concerns or comments you may have regarding this application. Note that you are required to send a copy of your comments to the applicant as well (per MGL Chapter 40A, sec. 11).

Your response must be received by the Planning Board prior to the Public Hearing, which is scheduled for February 15, 2023 at 7:00 pm held in person (planned for the Community Recreation Association) and via Zoom. Click on below link for Site Plan Review and Special Permit Application.

Meetings

Public meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 PM in order to make decisions on land use applications and to discuss land use issues with residents; additional meetings are held as needed.
