Mandatory Ethics Training

Every Town Clerk in MA is required to send annually a Summary of the Conflict of Interest Law and Online Training Requirements to all employees, paid and unpaid (see *Note). The employees in turn must return a signed receipt to the Clerk within 10 days. Each employee must also take an online training program every two years; the test at the end generates a certificate proving that it was taken.

*Note: according to the Summary, “employee” for this purpose includes all elected and appointed Town Officers.

The https://www.mass.gov/the-open-meeting-law (call this open meeting law) was revised effective July 2018, and this should be also be reviewed by all employees prior to returning the form.
